Key Stage 1 and 2 are important stages in children’s learning as they determine a child's potential and learning capability. In Years 1, 2, 3 and 4 we focus on building a strong foundation by teaching and frequently consolidating on the basic but essential aspects of the national curriculum. Students begin to study for grammar entrance exams during Year 5 while Year 6 students work towards their national curriculum tests and for the step up to secondary school.
Our sessions for Key Stage 1 and 2 are designed to ensure that students grasp the new topics they are learning and to help build their confidence and fill in any gaps or weaknesses in their knowledge. Some students may be preparing for exams, while others may simply want to improve in their school work.
The new National Curriculum for Key Stage 1 and 2 is designed to help children study the subjects in greater depth, with a focus on reasoning and problem solving. Students will learn a lot of spelling, grammar and punctuation work in English, while in mathematics they will cover a wide range of topics, including proportion, fractions, decimals and some algebra. All of our classes are National Curriculum based so we can provide as much support as we can with your child’s schoolwork.
